The Department of Education also known as Kagawaran ng Edukasyon), more popularly known as DepEd, formerly knows as the Department of Education, Culture and Sports or Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, Kultura at Palakasan in Filipino or DECS, is the executive department of the Philippine government which is principally charged with the administration and management of the Philippine educational system. One of three government organizations managing and supervising education in the Republic of the Philippines, the DepEd is the chief formulator of Philippine educational policy and is accountable for the Philippine primary and secondary school system, the basic education system, while CHED, Commision on Higher Education is responsible for tertiary and graduate education while TESDA  Technical Education and Skills Development Authority is responsible for technical-vocational and middle level education.
